Speed-Gun app for iPhone and iPad

SpeedCamera allows you measure the (scale) speed of vehicles or radio-controlled cars coming towards or away from you without the need for further calibration.

SpeedCamera uses OpenCV computer vision library to detect vehicles and measure parameters than can be translated into a speed measurement.

Point your phone camera toward the vehicle and it will be surrounded by a box if detected. The box has information regarding the objects speed, the error of the measured speed and/or the measured acceleration of the vehicle. Tapping a detected vehicle shows the data in the app dashboard - including a graphical speedometer, acceleration, current speed of the phone and measurement error.

SpeedCamera works best during the day and in uniform lighting conditions - i.e. without long shadows.

Pressing the SpeedCamera icon in the bottom right-hand side of the screen takes a snapshot of the screen (including the dashboard, if it is displayed). The snapshot can, if desired have a date & time displayed.

If the SpeedCamera is being used from another moving vehicle, it is possible for the app to compensate for your movement using Location Services. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

The measured speed can be expressed in one of 3 units - Miles per hour, Kilometres per hour or metres per second.
